Paul Rideout becomes the youngest ever Town player when he appears in a 3-1 victory over Hull City - he also becomes the youngest goalscorer when he nets the Town's third goal.

Swindon AFC - the original team formed by Reverend William Pitt - play their first match, a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Rover FC.
Match report as appeared in the Swindon Advertiser, dated 13th December:
FOOTBALL - Rover F.C. v. Swindon Association F.C. - This match was played on the ground of the former club on Saturday, the 29th ultimo, and resulted in an easy victory for the "Rovers" by four goals to nil. For the visitors Messrs. Pitt, Cockbill and Watson rendered good service, whilst for the home team, Hawksworth, Bonell and Jones played well. The following are the respective teams: - Rovers.- I. Crayford (goal); S.Stanley (back); T.Price, H.Winkley (half-backs); W.Hawksworth, captain; T.Bonell, right; F.Andrews, I.Overton, A.Bingham, centre; A.Powell, F.Jones left (forwards). - Swindon A.F.C.- R.H. Barnett, captain (goal); W.Woolford (back); A. Watson, G.Rawlings (half-backs); Rev. E.B. Pitt, C.Humphries, right; T.Hancock, and W.Cockbill centre; - Davies, J.Cook, left (forwards).
