Tim PARKIN

A commanding centre back, Parkin formed a defensive partnership with Colin Calderwood after signing from Bristol Rovers for £27,500 in July 1986. Helped the club to promotion in 1986/87, and left in 1989 after losing his place to Jon Gittens.

Before joining Swindon, Parkin had problems signing for Bristol Rovers from Swedish club Malmö in August 1981, as the Swedish FA only allowed transfers between professional clubs in December and June. To get around the rule, local amateur team Almonsbury Greenway signed him, only for him to join Rovers the following day!
