Jayden MITCHELL-LAWSON | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A former Town academy player who had left SN1 along with fellow Jayden Bogle to join Derby in 2016, Mitchell-Lawson returned to Town via a couple of loan spells at Bristol Rovers where he played under new Town boss Ben Garner. Capable of playing in any advanced position, Mitchell-Lawson looked an obvious impact substitute, and he fulfilled at least half of that billing, becoming a record-breaker as he smashed the record for the most substitute appearances in a single season for any Town player by coming on 24 times over the season. Unfortunately, his appearances were often fleeting - only three times did he come on before the 70th minute - and rarely had a major effect on the flow of the game, before drifting out of contention altogether in the latter part of the season. ‘JML’ did manage to make six starts - four of them in the Papa John’s Trophy, and he scored his only Town goal away at Plymouth Argyle in that competition, before being released at the end of the season.
