Chris MCPHEE

The second signing to be funded by the supporters' trust Red Army Fund, McPhee joined from Brighton on the loan transfer deadline in March 2006 for the rest of the season. He made his debut as a substitute two days later, coming on for the final eight minutes of the Town's 2-0 victory over Chesterfield.

Though hard-working, McPhee was not the goalscorer that the Town needed to help keep them in League One - and he failed to net in any of his eight appearances in a Town shirt. Nevertheless, manager Iffy Onuora hailed McPhee's team ethic, and it seemed likely that McPhee would join on a permanent basis after being released by Brighton - until Onuora was sacked in May, and his interest was not shared by new Town boss Dennis Wise.
