view Jones's match-by-match record

Dick JONES

An amateur inside left, Jones won 17 county caps whilst at Swindon, before becoming the club's first professional skipper. He won the Wiltshire Cup with four different teams - Swindon Town, Swindon Town Reserves, Trowbridge Town and Bridge St. Victoria.

It is possible that Jones holds the record for the quickest ever hat-trick scored for the Town. In Swindon's first season in the Southern League (1894/1895), though obviously impossible, Jones claimed that he scored a hat-trick "without an opposition player touching the ball" in the home match with Ilford, played at the Croft.
