Chris JONES

One of the unlucky members of the squad not to be included in the 1969 League Cup Final winning squad, Jones was originally signed from Manchester City for a club record fee of 15,000 in July 1968, after impressing on City's tour of America.

In his first season, Jones made only six appearances up until January, when his fortunes changed - he scored twice in the Town's 5-3 win over Tranmere on the 24th, then followed it up four days later with a hat-trick in the 5-1 win at bottom-of-the-table Oldham.

Jones also scored the goal that clinched promotion for the Town that season, an 89th minute equaliser at Rotherham United - and was part of the Anglo-Italian Cup winning squad.

The arrival of Arthur Horsfield restricted Jones' first team appearances, and he left the club to join Walsall, after a period at Oldham on loan.
