24    Rob HUNT

A defender most comfortable at right back but capable of filling on on the left, Hunt’s consistent performances in Richie Wellens’ League Two championship winning season of 2019/2020 made him a firm favourite with Town fans and led to him finishing third in the player of the season poll behind Eoin Doyle and Anthony Grant, despite the mid-season arrival of Paul Caddis shifting him to the left hand flank.

Signed on a two-year contract from Oldham in the summer of 2019, Hunt had previously played under Wellens at Oldham and before that, had come through the academy at Brighton.

The 2020/21 season was a more chastening one for both Town and Hunt - with injury issues and competition from Caddis, Akin Odimayo and - briefly - Kieron Freeman, he was restricted to twelve starts in the league as Town were relegated, including being substituted in the 37th minute of a 3-0 home defeat against Accrington and being red carded against Milton Keynes in December for a bad tackle.
