Tony HICKS

Hicks was thrown in at the deep end in August 1964, after regular keeper Norman Oakley broke his leg in the first game of the season. His only previous first-team game had come in a League Cup tie at home to Southend in the previous October.

Part of the squad that reached the FA Youth Cup final that season, he started well, keeping clean sheets in his first two games - but five of the following six games ended in defeat, and sixteen goals were conceded.

Hicks went on to make a total of 51 appearances for the Town, before leaving the club in 1967.
