Ian HERRING | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Known as Spud, Herring made his debut as a substitute, coming on in stoppage time in the last game of the 2001/2002 season versus Wycombe, whilst he was still a second year youth player. During the following season, Herring was loaned out to a few non-league sides, and when he returned, he was told he would be released at the end of his youth contract. Despite this, a series of injuries to first team players saw him gain a place in the first team squad - firstly as a substitute, and then in the first team itself - making his full debut at right wing back, in a 1-0 win at Crewe on 19th April 2003. His performances in the side earned him a reprieve from Andy King, and Herring signed a six month contract at the end of the season. Despite this, Herring never made enough of an impression to earn an extension, and he was allowed to leave the club. PLAYING RECORD:
