Andy FORD

A muscular, tough-tackling defender, Ford joined Swindon from Southend in 1977, the year after he won the club's Player of the Year award, and was named in the league's Fourth Division team of the year.

He made 92 league appearances over the Town during his three year stay, usually as an attacking left-back, though sometimes in the centre of defence. He found himself surplus to requirements when the Town spent a club record fee to bring David Peach to the County Ground, and Ford moved on to Gillingham at the end of the 1979/1980 season.
