Frédéric DARRAS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Darras joined in August 1996 on a free transfer from Corsican club Bastia, in a bid made by Swindon manager Steve McMahon to strengthen the back line for the Town's return to the First Division after their short stay in Division Two. Five years previously, Darras had appeared for Auxerre in the UEFA Cup, and was sent off in a Second Round tie at Liverpool. He made his Town debut at Norwich in a 2-0 defeat on the first day of the season. Darras’ first season at Swindon was a consistent one, and he was praised often for his solid performances. However, the Frenchman did not feature as much in his final season at the County Ground, only featuring in the first team sixteen times. He never quite settled in England, and returned to France at the end of his contract, having made 49 league appearances for the Town. PLAYING RECORD:
