Bobby BARNES

Barnes immediately installed himself as a fans' favourite - scoring in six consecutive games after signing from Aldershot for £50,000 on October 14th 1987, as part of the deal that sent Steve Berry in the opposite direction.

After being sent-off in the New Year's Day encounter with West Bromwich Albion, Barnes found himself unable to hold down a first team place for the rest of the season. Although he started the following season in the team, the arrival of Tom Jones from Aberdeen limited his first team opportunities, and he left for Bournemouth in March 1989.
