A game that had everything - after Andy Gurney had given Swindon the lead on the stroke of half-time with a superb 30 yard free-kick, Sam Parkin doubled the lead with just sixteen minutes left on the clock after a wonderful passing move - the Town having a great chance of causing an upset at a Leeds side with thirteen current or future internationals in their squad. Ian Harte reduced the arrears just three minutes later to set up a grandstand finale, before Town keeper Bart Griemink was sent off for a second bookable offence with three minutes left remaining. Deep into injury time, Leeds threw everything forward - including the goalkeeper - and amazingly, it was England international stopper Paul Robinson who netted the equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game. Swindon's ten men held out in extra time, but eventually succumb on penalties - with two of the night's heroes, Andy Gurney and Stefani Miglioranzi missing their spot kicks in the shootout. |
