FA Cup - Third Round
Saturday, January 3, 1998

Swindon Town Stevenage Borough
M.Walters (5')
HT: 1-1 J.Soloman (24'), G.Grazioli (66')
Attendance:  9,422

The most embarrassing result in STFC's history? With Swindon in the second tier and Boro in the Conference, the home side are the overwhelming favourites when Stevenage visit the County Ground - but despite taking an early lead with a wind assisted effort from Mark Walters, Swindon don't adapt to the conditions as well as their non-league opponents - and Boro eventually return victorious, with future Town favourite Giuliano Grazioli grabbing a winner after Fraser Digby's goal-kick barely made it out of the penalty area.

Shortly after, McMahon placed eight players on the transfer list.
